Study on Transient Torque, Current Characteristics and Temperature Rise of Medium High-voltage Induction Motor under Different Load Modes

A YJKK500-4/6kV 2500kW and S1 working-system induction motor is studied. According to the actual load of the motor, considering the saturation effect and skin effect, the torque and current characteristics are analyzed when the motor runs under S1 working system with a sudden load, and in the starting process. In addition, the starting capacity of the motor driving different loads is also calculated. The electromagnetic calculation results are used as heat source. CFD method is used to calculate the motor temperature rise when the motor runs under 1, 1.1, 1.2 and 1.4 times rated load. This work is very beneficial to provide safety guarantee for motor running with multi-load modes, and is very helpful for the improvement on the utilization rate of medium high-voltage motor and the decrease in production cost.
