Design and Implement of an Active-clamp Isolated Boost Converter for PV Systems

Active-clamp isolated boost converters feature in high and variable step-up ratio with isolation, which are suitable for renewable generation. This paper presents a design and implementation of the converter for photovoltaic system. Steady-state operation of the converter is analyzed and a design example is presented. A two-loop controller is used to regulate the output voltage. A 400W prototype is built in the laboratory and the experimental results match the analysis well. Load-step process shows the converter has good dynamic performance with the two-loop controller.
