An Asynchronous Motor with an Asymmetric Magnetic Circuit with Radiation-Resistant Insulation

Modern technology for the processing of spent fuel assemblies (SFA) and radioactive waste (RAW) is produced in radiation-shielding chambers. Under the influence of high radiation fields, intense destruction of various nodes of actuators made of organic materials, including insulation of the windings of electric motors, leads to frequent shutdowns of equipment for repair or replacement. Remote repair and installation work dramatically increases labor costs and reduces the efficiency of equipment use. To protect against radiation, electric motors are carried outside the protective wall of the chamber, which leads to the use of large penetrations in the design of the chambers with long shafts transmitting rotation and the organization of additional rooms for the placement of electric motors.
