Induction Motor Mapping Using Rotor Field-Oriented Analysis Technique

The aim of this paper is to outline general rules for induction motor mapping, with the final target of deriving the trajectories in stator dq currents plane and the efficiency map. At first, it is necessary to have a fast and accurate analysis method for the performance prediction. The induction motor analysis is carried out performing mainly magnetostatic simulations, imposing stator dq currents, as for synchronous motors. The rotor current is imposed too, defining a sinusoidal equivalent winding. The adopted analysis procedure is suitable to predict the performance of a controlled induction motor or connected to the grid. Some measurements are reported to verify the analysis procedure. The working trajectories in the dq stator currents plane are derived for both the controlled and grid connected motor. Finally, a detailed procedure to get the efficiency map is outlined.
