MTPA Control Strategy for Six-phase DC-biased Hybrid Excitation Vernier Reluctance Machines

This paper analyzes the mathematical model of six-phase DC-biased hybrid excitation vernier reluctance machines (DC-biased HEVRMs) in stationary reference frame and synchronous rotating reference frame. Then, a MTPA (Maximum Torque per Ampere) control strategy based on polynomial fitting method is proposed to improve the torque capability and simplify the calculation of the control system. Both the average torque component and the torque ripple component are considered. By adjusting the ratio of the DC-biased current component and AC current components, the torque capacity can be improved. By suppressing the harmonic current, the effect of the MTPA control strategy can be enhanced. Experimental results are provided to validate the proposed method.
