Widely Tunable Metallic Nanorods Chain for Solar Radiation Absorption

Plasmonic nanoparticles are promising nanomaterials for solar radiation absorption harvesting due to their absorption spectral band which can be easily tuned from visible to near infrared regime. Full-wave field analysis based on Finite Element Method (FEM) is used to compare absorption spectra and solar absorption weighted coefficient of gold nanorods assembly. The solar absorption power increase rapidly for nanorod assembly and rise as high as 0.01 nW along with high absorption ratio. Moreover, the solar weighted absorption coefficient is almost close to solar thermal collector. Finally, computational modeling results of nanorod assembly obtains a higher temperature (34.3 °C), which confirms that our nanostructures show the great potential to be employed for nanofluid to enhance solar heating ability.
