Towards efficient production of digital climatic maps for the Campania Region

gPRISM is an efficient software for the production of digital climatic maps from point measurements according to a well-known climatic regression model called PRISM. To overcome performance and scalability issues, gPRISM exploits the GPU computing power with a highly parallel implementation, favoured by the nature of the PRISM algorithm. This paper discusses the application of the current version of gPRISM to the Campania Region. The presented evaluation shows that gPRISM can be applied to larger areas and to finer time scales, confirming the validity of the GPU-based approach.
