Waste To Energy Foeus On Indonesia

Waste from human endeavours has multiplied many fold over the past decades in parallel with growth in population, which has increased nearly four times over the past eighty years. Not unnaturally this has led to a massive increase in the amount of waste generated, both organic and inorganic. At the same time technological improvements have developed steadily, one consequence being the output of large quantities of waste that are strong and non-biodegradable. An increasing portion of this has also been finding its way into marine situations, leading to potential serious hazards affecting the marine linked food chain. Consequently, more attention is now being paid towards means of eliminating hazardous waste or using/reducing it to safe levels. This paper examines the current status of methods to deal with waste, either in terms of elimination or to turn it into something that can be safely reused. Particular focus will be on production of energy or energy providing products, with reference to the situation in Indonesia.
