Evaluation of Finite Discrete RRC-Pulse Parameters to Simulate DVB-S2 with LDM

This paper analyzes the impact of Root Raised Cosine (RRC) filter design for Non Orthogonal Multiplexing (NOM) satellite applications. Specifically, this study has been carried out for a special case of NOM in broadcast environments, combining the technique Layered Division Multiplexing (LDM) with the DVB-S2X standard. The paper first defines the RRC discrete representation parameters and uses simulations to optimize their values. The goal is to minimize Inter-Symbol Interference (ISI) and make the spectrum shape compliant with DVB-S2X spectral mask requirements. Simulations also show that it is possible to define parameters values of discrete RRC pulse to obtain Peak to Average Power Ratio (PAPR) closer than 0.01 dB to the theoretical result for continuous pulse.
