The PID Integrated Anti-Windup Scheme by Ziegler-Nichols Tuning for Small-Scale Steam Distillation Process

The Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID) controller may the first choice among the practitioner or enginner to control any enginnering system. Unfortunately, PID controller has a lack when it reach at windup stage. The windup stage is always happen due to inability of compensator to eliminate the situation. The main cause is the designing of controller input; which unpredicted nonlinearities behaviour in advance. To overcome the windup problem, additional feedback compensation is needed to diminish or reduce the effect of windup situation. The objective of paper to propose the solution in improving windup situation using back-computation method tuning by Ziegler-Nichols rule. The simulation result show that the propose Ziegler Nichols-Proportional-Integral-Derivative integrated Anti-Windup (ZN-PIDAW) controllers exhibit better performances compared to the Ziegler Nichols Proportional-Integral-Derivative (ZN-PID) controller.
