Calibration of Stereo Cameras with Surveying Equipment

Using a stereo camera allows to get a large amount of information about obstacles and three-dimensional scene information. One of the conditions for using this equipment is a good calibration. The paper discusses the situation with a stereo camera mounted on a locomotive. The stop distance of the train is large, this condition requires to use cameras with a large focus. The approach for calculating the initrics and external parameters of the camera using a tachymeter and markers and allowing accurate camera calibration is presented. The results of processing real video images obtained from the locomotive are given.
