Development of Animatic Comic Website: the Lifestory of Pangeran Diponegoro

The low interest in reading in Indonesia is a matter of concern at this time. According to the World's Most Literate Nation study conducted in 2016, Indonesia's reading interest was ranked 60th out of 61 countries surveyed. Literature has an essential role in the process of building a nation. Reading history related to the nation is one example; whereas, history is one aspect that can build the character of a nation, particularly the young generation. Comic has been known as one reading favourite of the young generation. In education, comic can be used to increase students' interest in reading because comic can stimulate the attention, feelings, interests, and thoughts of students. Today, many comics are presented in the form of a website. However, it does not offer an interaction between the user and the website, and it lacks of the knowledge that can build the user character. This paper will raise the comic "Pangeran Diponegoro: Pahlawan dari Gua Selarong" as an interactive website. It is hoped that this animated website can increase students' interest in the history of the struggle of Pangeran Diponegoro and can be used as a supporting media in learning history at schools.
