Bone fracture imaging study with an acoustic technique

Imaging studies of bones are important for orthopaedic doctors to know the physical condition of the bones, to enable them to decide about the treatment of a particular abnormality. Generally, the X-ray technique is used by clinicians to assess the condition of the bone, but this method is cumbersome and has diagnostic limitations, particularly in the case of minor fractures. In order to overcome this problem, an acoustic stress wave technique is developed for the study of bone imaging. This technique is quick, less expensive and reliable for evaluating the inner structure of the bone, layer by layer, non-destructively and non-invasively. This paper describes a comparative study of imaging patterns in normal and fractured bones.
