Solar Powered Closed-loop Current Controlled DC-DC Buck Converter for Battery Charging Application

Due to the intermittent nature of renewable energy sources (RESs), there exists a need for a storage system like a battery. The work presented in this paper consists of a solar photovoltaic powered battery charger using a current controlled dc-dc buck converter for charging a high capacity battery bank. The mathematical modeling of the converter using a state space approach is also presented.
