Intelligent Approach for Load Balancing on an 11 kV Feeder

The present electrical network is designed with the aim to deliver adequate power at the requisite voltages to the loads connected at the consumer end, both in retrospect and in the future. As per reports provided in January 2018, India's installed capacity is at 3,29,298 megawatt(MW) making it easily one of the forerunners in the Power sector ranked at 5^th position after European Union, China, US and Japan. Handling such a large capacity must be consistent with ensuring good quality of supply, minimum losses along the line, reliability and most importantly, economy. Load balancing is a technique ensuring judicious supply in all conductors of the system henceforth minimizing losses and excessive voltage drops for a paradigmatic performance. In this paper, for the aforementioned real-time system, a load balancing technique using fuzzy logic is used for facilitating the load change decision. Fuzzy Logic has been implemented in this paper on an 11 KV Feeder named 6/18 s/s of the Rohini -5 grid in New Delhi, India under the DISCOM-TPDDL.
