Emergency Response in the Electric Distribution System With Microgrids Considering DG Costs and High Penetration of Residential PV Systems

This is a continuation of our previous work, where is proposed a novel matheuristic for emergency response to the contingency planning problem related to electric distribution operations with microgrids (MG). A real power distribution system (PDS) is always susceptible to interruptions in power supply, commonly referred as emergency orders (EO). These EO must be attended by repair crews in an attempt to reestablish the customers' power supply as soon as possible. Considering the cost of non-supplied energy and the penalties related to high important customers, the EO scheduling must be found aiming to minimize the total service cost, while respecting electrical constraints. This study proposes to analyze the attendance cost behavior when considering distributed generation (DG) costs, with these costs being based on contracts between customers (DG owners) and power utilities. It is analysed a contingency scenario, with high photovoltaic (PV) DG penetration for the residential customers. These factors were not considered in our previous study and will bring the model even closer to reality. The matheuristic with mixed integer programming (MIP) has been implemented in Octave, integrated with MATPOWER to perform the power-flow, and controlling the exact method solved by CPLEX. Computational results show the difference in the total attendance cost when comparing the cases with the scheduling solution considering the DG cost with the base case without considering DG costs.
