A Bridgeless Boost Half Bridge DC-DC Converter for Electrical and Hybrid Vehicle Applications

The present work is to propose an AC-DC converter as a battery charger for hybrid or electric vehicles based on the Boost Half Bridge (BHB) topology. Such a converter has as its main characteristics Bridgeless, it is a single stage, it has galvanic isolation, it allows to correct the power factor at the input of the converter, to promote zero voltage switching for each of its switches through the asynchronous pulse width modulation (A-PWM), in addition to having a reduced number of semiconductors. Furthermore, all the study and analysis, about the power structure, as well as the loop control and the implemented modulation will be presented in the following topics, in order to explain and prove the operation of the proposed structure.
