Oxygen Saturation Variability: Healthy Adults

Analysis of blood oxygen saturation variability is the goal of the report. Peripheral oxygen saturation (SpO2) is routinely measured by pulse oximeters. Three records (one-hour length) for healthy adults were computer processed with the application of classic and filtered Poincare Plots, histograms, and Andrews curves. The long-time variability was found as dominant for oxygen saturation levels. The numeric descriptors of variability are virtually equal for classic and filtered Poincare Plots. It testifies about the fractal nature of ones. A clustering of points for both kinds of Poincare Plots, confirmed by Andrew curves method, is noticeable too.
