Multiphase Tool for Synthesis and Analysis of Overcurrent Protection in Unbalanced Networks

This paper presents a computational method to aid in the synthesis and analysis the protection system in unbalanced distribution networks. The proposed method is based on a genetic algorithm. A method to initialize the population of the genetic algorithm in order to achieve better results is also presented. A graphical user interface was developed to assist in visualizing the results and allowing users to make adjustments to the settings after optimization for better results. The proposed method was tested in the 9 bus and IEEE34 Test Case.
