Dual-Band Anti-Interference Slot Antenna Using Metamaterial Structure

In this paper, a waveguide slot filtering antenna with dual-band anti-interference performance is presented. First, a filtering waveguide is described. It is comprised of a common rectangular waveguide and a metamaterial surface embedded at the bottom of the waveguide cavity. The meta-surface is comprised of two kinds of alternatively distributed metal nails. Under proper design, dual bandgaps can be arrived by the meta-surface at specified frequency ranges, in which the propagation of electromagnetic wave is stopped. As a result, a dual-band bandstop filter function is obtained by the waveguide. Then, a filtering antenna is achieved by cutting radiating slots at the top of the filtering waveguide. A proposed filtering antenna prototype is designed with working band at S-band while two stopbands at C-band and X-band, respectively. The simulated results show that the proposed antenna has good radiating performance as the common waveguide slot antenna. At the same time, strong suppression levels more than 40dB and 50dB are obtained by the proposed antenna within the two stopbands, respectively.
