Simulation and Experiment of a Loaded Ultra-small Symmetric Dipole Antenna

In order to realize the miniaturization design of symmetrical dipole antenna operating at 0.1-1 GHz, folding method is adopted to improve the effective current path of the dipole, and resistance is loaded to improve the impedance matching. A symmetrical dipole antenna with a size of 78 mm × 12 mm × 10 mm is proposed. The antenna was modeled and simulated in the CST Microwave Studio software

. The simulation results show that the VSWR of the antenna is less than 2 in the frequency range of 0.1-1 GHz. The antenna has the characteristics of ultra-miniaturization, and its size in the polarization direction is only 0.026 times of the minimum operating wavelength. In addition, it has ultra-wideband characteristics, which can be used in small microwave test systems.
