Harmonic-Modulated Nonlinear Metasurface Based on Generalized Phase Conjugation Principle

In this paper, a generalized phase conjugation (PC) principle is derived through both the wave interpretation and the quantum interpretation. A harmonic-modulated nonlinear metasurface (HM-NMS) is proposed accordingly. Based on the generalized PC principle, it is demonstrated that the proposed HM-NMS could perform as a phase conjugation mirror (PCM), an optically-controlled beam steering (OCBS) array, and could even transform the plane wave excitations into surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs) under optical frequencies.
