Abstract:

In telecommunications, antennas are one of the key elements of the entire system, without which the wireless communication is impossible. It is well-known that antennas are reciprocal devices and exhibit the same properties in transmission and in reception. However, recently breaking the reciprocity of antennas without using ferromagnetic materials is feasible thanks to modulated metamaterials. In this contribution, we show that a properly designed space-time modulated metamaterial cloak can be used to significantly change the realized gain exhibited by an antenna in its transmission and reception mode.
