Electromagnetic Analysis of an Axial Flux Permanent Magnet Generator

The paper presents the electromagnetic analysis of an axial flux permanent magnet generator. The numerical scheme contains the finite element method under the package of Ansys Maxwell 3D. The design has two rotors with a sandwiched stator, having 24 windings. The core structure is new with radial and axial flux orientations. The design has been analyzed within a 2 mm air gap in a three phase operation configuration for the aim of small power scale wind energy. The rated power of 3 kW has been obtained under the air gap magnetic flux of 1.1 T.
