Emergency Capacity Prediction of Direct Buried Cable under Rainfall Condition

As the cable body parameters are constant, the capacity of direct buried cable mainly depends on its surrounding soil thermal characteristic parameters, such as thermal resistance coefficient, specific heat capacity, ambient temperature. At present, a little attention is paid to the soil thermal characteristic parameters around the cable, and without considering the impact of rainfall. Experiments were carried out in Guangzhou, China, to measure the soil thermal characteristic parameters. Also, the effects of rainfall on soil thermal characteristic parameters were studied. Based on prediction model, the emergency capacity of cable under different initial conditions was calculated. Finally, the effects of rainfall and rainfall duration on cable emergency capacity are analyzed.
