A Solution to the Problems of Appearance Optimization for “Flame blocker”-type Units Using Advanced Production Technologies

Most dangerous accidents of the aircraft fuel system are those causing fires by the destruction of fuel tanks during take-off and landing. For 2 - 3 minutes, fire can lead to irreversible changes in the design of the aircraft and to its destruction. Fires can also be accompanied by explosions of fuel tanks. To prevent the spread of flame in the fuel tanks for aircraft and helicopters, flame arresters are used. The most optimal method for manufacturing a flame suppressor is laser sintering of a metal powder. Additive technologies make it possible to produce a thin-walled cassette with preservation of the calculated channel geometry, which most satisfies the requirements for fire resistance and hydraulics. Also, prototyping makes it possible to significantly simplify and reduce the cost of manufacturing by removing from welding or soldering the cassette. This is achieved by the fact that the laser sintering method of the powder allows the cassette to be manufactured together with the casing.
