Investigating Mechanical Properties of Polyacetal/Graphene Nanocomposites by a Structural-Mechanical Model

In this paper, a structural mechanical model has been used for modeling the polyacetal/graphene nanocomposites. For this purpose, the representative volume element has been employed to obtain the mechanical properties of the nanocomposite. In this model the continuum mechanics have been used to model the polyacetal matrix and spring elements and connector have been utilized for modeling interatomic interactions in nanocomposites. The impact of graphene weight percentage and its orientation in the polyacetal matrix on Young's modulus, as well as the ultimate tensile strength of the nanocomposite have been examined. The effect of graphene weight percentage on mechanical properties has been investigated by increasing the number of graphenes and reducing the dimensions of the polymer matrix. Graphene weight percentage has changed from 1.5 to 12% and the graphene angle within the polyacetal matrix has changed from zero to 90 degree.
