Design of a Geothermal Heating System

The project work concentrates on the development of a geothermal residential heating system during cold winter. Available geothermal energy in Saudi Arabia was first studied. Thereafter, a suitable heat exchanger was developed to deliver the required heating requirements. In the development of the heat exchanger, graphs describing the performance of a cross flow heat exchanger operating in parallel flow configuration were generated in terms of critical dimensionless factors. Performance charts will readily help the heat exchanger designers in designing the most cost effective heat exchanger.
