Experimental Research of Polarization Transfer Functions of Mobile Ground Objects

The paper presents the results of X-band experimental research of polarization characteristics of mobile remote sensing objects and their polarization transfer functions. It proves that polarization of the backscattered signal is not chaotic: it varies along some definite polarization trajectories. Polarization transfer functions depend considerably upon electro-physical properties of an object, but weakly depend on its shape. Consequently, they can be used as an indicator for the material the object is made of.
