Model Predictive Control for Buck-Boost Inverter Based on Unfolding Circuit

In this paper an indirect Model Predictive Control (MPC) for the grid-connected buck-boost inverter based on unfolding circuit is presented. The algorithm of the system takes into account the several predictive states with using the state-space model. The values of the passive components were taking into account to eliminate the discontinuous current mode in the inductance, which leads to the correct operation of the control system. The simulation results for buck and boost modes were presented. The control system operates with using different weight coefficients for each mode. The system flexibility allows to obtain the grid current with a high accuracy and with a reduced zero-crossing distortion. The transient process of the system has a small spike in a case of the constant input power and of the constant input current. The MPC is a suitable technique for grid-connected systems.
