Results and Prospects of Application of the Double Weighted Fourier Transform (DWFT) to Problems of Radio Wave Propagation in Inhomogeneous Media

This paper deals with the asymptotic method for describing wave fields in inhomogeneous media, which has the form of the Double Weighted Fourier Transform (DWFT). We show a connection between DWFT and other asymptotic methods for solving the wave equation. We report the results of numerical calculations of phase variations in the wave scattered by irregularities with scales smaller than the Fresnel radius under strong phase variations. As a method able to eliminate diffraction and multipath effects we propose to use spatial field processing obtained by DWFT and and its variants.
