A Novel Design for Compact Multi-Band Antenna Based on Fractal Geometry and Metamaterials

Using fractal geometry and metamaterials structures in antenna design have been attracted many antenna designers, they help improve antenna parameters such as bandwidth, reduced size, multi-band operation. This paper presents an antenna design based on a combination of both techniques to create a compact size antenna with three resonance frequencies in the S-band. Optimized Minkowski fractal island antenna uses a defected ground structure (DGS) as a ground plane.
