Feasibility of Pancreatic Cancer Treatment by Aid of Microwave Interstitial Hyperthermia Applicators

Main aim of this paper is to study (based on numerical simulations) technical feasibility of pancreatic cancer treatment by aid of microwave hyperthermia - using array of 4 microwave helix interstitial hyperthermia applicators. These simulations were performed in EM field simulator SEMCAD X for 3 different ISM frequencies: 434, 915 and 2450 MHz. Comparison of SAR distribution value (Specific Absorption Rate) simulated on these 3 frequencies is discussed. "High-Resolution Human Models for Simulations: Virtual Population" were used for this study. Final aim of this feasibility study was to identify most suitable frequency (from those mentioned above) for the pancreatic cancer treatment.
