Analysis of Computational Models of Penetration – Standoff Curve Predicting

In this article, the jet formation and its penetration capability depended on standoff distance of PG-7V warhead are investigated by experimental and numerical method based on AUTODYN simulation. The standoff distances used in this study are optimal standoff and two other standoffs -70 mm and 300 mm. Marker points are utilized on the liner and the Armox 440T target to find out the effect of the jet on the target. All material properties were obtained by University of Defense and Military Research Institute Brno. Experiments were carried out to confirm the results of simulation method. All results of simulation agree with the experimental results very well. All experiments were carried out at the Bzenec shooting range. The Eulerian meshing was used to describe the collapse process of conical liner. After that, the Lagrangian meshing was used to describe the jet penetration into the target of ARMOX 440T in selected standoffs, including the optimal standoff of PG-7V warhead.
