Speed Control and Optimum Efficiency of Induction Motor Driven Ventilation Fan in Mines

This paper presents the development of SIMULINK model for a closed loop control system of Induction motor driven ventilation fan works on the feedback of its speed, torque and airflow. Based on the feedback, the system adjusted itself to operate in the optimum efficiency zone of the particular fan. It also optimizes the energy consumption as per the demand of airflow and air pressure in mines. The SIMULINK model is successfully tested and results support the significant savings of energy.
