Systems and Devices for Protection of Personnel Against Electromagnetic Fields

The paper discusses the harmful effects of an electromagnetic field on electrotechnical personnel from sources, which are rectifier converters on the converter traction substations. Rectified current and voltage composition of the rectifier converters is analyzed. It is shown that the rectifier converter is a source of harmonic components of alternating current and voltage, has a range of magnetic and electric strengths, which harmful effects on personnel have not been studied so far. Protection means are developed to protect electrotechnical personnel from impact on EMF from the highest harmonic alternating components of the rectified voltage and current, in the form of the devices allowing to measure the EMF levels, to consider total influence of harmonic components of the rectified voltage and current in the frequency range from 0 to 10 kHz, complex from both components of electric magnetic fields and warning of personnel about dangerous excess of MF strength level, carrying out protection time.
