Asynchronous Generator with Winding Capable of Switching Between double Star and Star-Triangle Forms

Along with the known advantages, such as higher reliability, lesser mass and overall dimensions, and high quality of electricity, application of asynchronous generators is hampered by the insufficient level of voltage frequency, which results in the need to use additional control schemes or an inverter transformer, as applying of a high power load can lead to de-excitation of an asynchronous generator. Using of autotransformer stator windings in an asynchronous generator makes it possible to power up the capacitors on a higher voltage, which will let us to lower the capacity necessary for excitation of a generator. Offsetting the parts of the winding of one phase makes it possible to lower the degree of demagnetizing of the rotor winding by the load current of an asynchronous generator, as the load currents and excitation currents are summed up vectorially in the common part of the winding, which leads to lowering electrical losses of the machine. A generator with such a scheme of stator winding can be connected both as an double star and an star - triangle, which will lead to lowering of the starting current of the asynchronous electric engines connected to the generator. However, an asynchronous generator with such winding can be used on two voltage levels by switching the winding from a double star to a star - triangle.
