Turbulent Cascade in the Multi-layered Network

The evolution of turbulence cascade is the power source of oceanic energy and material transportation. Unveiling the evolution mechanism and realizing multi-scales modeling urge researchers to examine turbulent physical process based on different statistical analyses methods. We propose an innovative approach based on complex networks framework which realizes the multivariate fusion of dynamical properties and topological features. The key spot in building multi-layered networks is the definition of nodes in three dimensions and edges between two interactions, which allows topological analysis to energy cascade. This new data-driven observation framework is based on experimental turbulence data collected with Moored Upwardly Rising Profiler in the Western Pacific. The present finding offers promoting insights for multi-scales turbulence models in marine development of ocean observation and scientific understanding.
