Stabilization of a continuous-time linear system with bounded network delay based on periodic event-triggering

This paper proposes a periodic event-triggered quantization policy design method for a continuous-time linear system which transmits its feedback information through digital communication networks. It investigates the effects of two factors on performance of the concerned system, including bounded network delay and limited information to represent the system state. The network delay cannot be precisely known and may degrade the system’s performance. Different from the earlier work on delay-free linear systems whose states are measured continuously, we implement a periodic event-triggering strategy for linear systems with bounded network delay. By making good use of both the information bits and the sampling time instants of feedback packets, our policy can obtain the desired ultimate boundedness. And a lower bound of the minimum time interval between two communication events is also given. The effectiveness of the obtained results is demonstrated through simulations.
