Energy optimization for Multi-microgrid System using Two-layer Model

This paper presents a two layer optimization model of multi-microgrids with considering the power interaction between microgrids to reduce the operating cost of the microgrids and improve the reliability of the microgrids. Hierarchical energy management system (EMS) including local EMS and central EMS (CEMS) is able to share the computational burden and improve efficiency. In the first layer, local EMSs schedule output of devices for each microgrid to minimize the operational cost respectively and calculate shortage power or surplus power amount of each microgrid and electricity selling price of microgrids with surplus power. In the second layer, CEMS receives the information about shortage power, surplus power amount and actual electricity selling price of each microgrid and operates optimization to minimize the power buying cost of power-deficient microgrids. Test results validate the effectiveness of the proposed model.
