Power Control Characteristic of Generic Type-3 Wind Turbine Model Based on IEC 61400-27-1 Standard

Wind power is a kind of energy that with intermittent property and use a large number of power electronic components, it causes system stability and various power quality problems in the existing electric grid. In order to effectively analyze wind power integration and observe wind turbine operation behavior, development of wind turbine model has become a necessary work. This paper investigates the type-3 double fed wind turbine modelling technology based on IEC 61400-27-1 standard. MATLAB/Simulink is used for modeling and simulation and active/reactive power control characteristics are obtained for analysis; furthermore, to validate the performances of investigated model, results from electromagnetic transient wind turbine model are used for comparisons.
