A Combinatorial Economical Double Auction Resource Allocation Model (CEDARA)

Auction in cloud market is now a day's one of the most promising area of study. Both customers and providers participate in online deals for resource utilization in cloud computing environment. Resources are allocated to customers according to their requirement and time duration and customers have to pay accordingly. Customer's aim is to get required resources in cheaper price with required quality of service from providers, while provider's main aim is to gain profit as well as compete in market with best utilization of its resources. As both providers and customers should have their privileges in decision making for their best results, the proposed approach is based on combinatorial double auction model and named as “Combinatorial Economical Double Auction Resource Allocation Model”. In this model, single bid is offered by the customer for the whole bundle of required resources and pay for the whole bundle instead of paying for individual resources. One customer can get all the resources from one provider or from different providers on the basis of unit price offered for individual machines. If all the resources required by customer are available, and provider's price range is within the bundle bid submitted by customer, then complete bundle of resources is offered from the provider(s) in the form of virtual machines (VMs). The evaluation of proposed model has shown efficient allocation and utilization of resources with increased involvement of customers and providers, while maintaining the priority of genuine providers over other providers. The heuristic algorithmic approach of the proposed model is implemented in CloudSim environment and compared with popular CDARA model given by Samimi. Results obtained have successfully shown an enhancement in resource utilization and profit gains over this existing model.
