The Hydrodynamic Experiment of Rotor of Marine Current Turbine with Self-Pitch and Variable Flap

In order to solve the problems of poor dynamic sealing and low energy capture efficiency of Marine current turbine, a new structure of rotor with self-pitch and variable flap is proposed, which can change the deformations of blades automatically with the flow direction. Both installation angle β and variable flap angle θ are the main factor affecting energy capture efficiency. The feasibility of the rotor with self-pitch and variable flap is verified by flume experiments on the physical model. The experiments show that the energy conversion efficiency of the rotor with self-pitch and variable flap is 20% higher than that of self-pitch at θ=0°.(Cp= 24%;β= 15°).
