On Construction of Polar Subcodes with Large Kernels

Polar subcodes with large kernels were shown to require lower complexity to achieve the same performance as Arikan polar codes under SCL decoding. In this paper we present design techniques for polar (sub)codes with large kernels. Namely, methods are presented to estimate the capacities of bit subchannels, as well as to eliminate low-weight non-zero codewords from the obtained codes.
