Effect of Smart Multiple Hub Planning on Distribution Networks Integrated Expansion

The primary energy source of power systems mostly rely on natural gas resources. Thus, the co-expansion planning of electricity and gas networks can results in more accurate and cost-effective solutions for both networks. The current study presents a co-expansion planning model considering energy distributed generation resources for electricity and gas networks. In addition, when demand sides resources are connected to multi-carrier systems (MCSs), the gas and electricity network correlation will increase which in turn, can affect the both systems performance. In this paper, a model in the demand side is presented based on smart energy hub. In this model, a part of demand including electricity, gas and cooling can be fulfilled via energy hubs in the demand side. The rest of the required energy is supplied through upstream network by replacing various energy carriers. The given problem is composed of binary and continuous variables, and also there are non-linear and non-convex constraints of power flow. This issue increases the complexity of the problem. Thus, a MILP model is developed using linear techniques. Despite the heuristic methods, the proposed model does not need iterative approaches. In this method, the convergence of the problem to optimum response is guaranteed. The numerical studies show the capability of the proposed method.
