Revisited SCC Equivalent Resistance High-Frequency Limit Accounting for Stray Inductance Effect

Equivalent resistance of switched capacitor converter (SCC) is an important parameter that reflects the average conductivity loss. With the SCC switching frequency increase, it becomes necessary to account for the stray inductance effect that increases the equivalent resistance. The equivalent resistance high-frequency limit was previously reported to be proportional to the switching frequency and stray inductance. This article suggests that it is proportional to the squared switching frequency and squared stray inductance and inversely proportional to the circuit resistance. The accurate equivalent resistance and inductive switching limit (ISL) are calculated for different converters. The calculations are supported with simulation and experimental results.
