A Dual-Polarized Printed Mono-pole Antenna with Simple Structure for Diversity Application

Polarization diversity can improve channel capacity and reduce signal fading. This paper proposed a dual-polarized monopole antenna with simple structure for polarization diversity system. The proposed antenna was composed of inverted-F antenna and inverted-L antenna, which were orthogonally mounted in space. The planar mental plate was used to obtain the unidirectional patterns. The frequency range of discussed antenna was from 2.35GHz to 2.55GHz. The antenna structure was designed and simulated by full-wave electromagnetic simulation technology. The designed dual-polarized monopole antenna had an analog voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) of less than 2, and the relative frequency band was about 8.16%. The axial ratio (AR) of each polarization port at the boresight for the designed antenna was higher than 20dB. For each port, the wide beam was achieved, which was suitable for the array antenna application. What’s more, the antenna miniaturization was also realized. The proposed dual polarization antenna had simple structure, low cost and was suitable for engineering application.
