The Impact of Multicast Traffics in Cloud Networks and Countermeasures

The multicast is used to handle tenant virtual network point-to-multipoint traffic in the cloud. It's a method designed in the early days of internet, and a hotbed that brings traditional threats into modern designed cloud computing data center. In this paper, we try to explain and verify how multicast traffics become the bottleneck of the cloud network and how much the impact is through the experiments. Then, we introduces mGuard, a virtual network communication scenario based multicast optimization mechanism. Lastly, we make a conclusion.
