Pulse Electric Field Effect on Breast Cancer Cell Properties

Controlling cell function by using pulses of electrical fields had been used widely in chemotherapy application. The pulse electric field (PEF) induced created pores through the cell membrane and allowed substance around it to be absorbed into the cell. The PEF inducement can either be reversible electroporation or irreversible electroporation depends on the parameter used. This method led to a variety of medical applications, mostly in cell studies. In this study, a range voltage of the pulsed electric field will be applied on cancer cell (Breast cancer cell) to investigate the electroporation process. In addition, this study concentrated on the effectiveness of low pulse electric field parameter, to look at the proliferation effect and cell length of the cancer cell. The result showed a positive response to the effect of PEF on breast cancer cell properties. Which is showing that the decrement of cell length as an increment of electric field induce and cell viability percentage are high at 300 V/cm with a percentage of 91%. These findings might contribute towards understanding the cell cancer treatment factors which may lead to a new method for cell cancer treatment or wound healing.
