A method to evaluate performance of MIMO waveforms for over-the-horizon radar

Multiple-input-multiple-output(MIMO) technique for over-the-horizon radar has been developed widely recently. The key to apply this new technique is to design and evaluate an appropriate orthogonal waveform set. In this paper, a waveform performance evaluation method based on relative significance factor (RSF) has been proposed to test all kinds of designed waveforms. By transmitting multiple waveforms iteratively, relative significance for a certain target echo has been estimated to indicate the performance of a waveform in practical application. Finally, an example of random phase-coded waveform set has been used to demonstrate the feasibility and availability of the proposed method.
